This has nothing to do with this outfit, but the wall I’m standing in front of in these photos, until today, has been blocked by two giant moving boxes and a pile of mess. This morning I finally bit the bullet, unpacked and broke down those boxes, and for whatever reason, this bare wall brings me so much joy. I think I spent about an hour today on Pinterest trying to figure out what I want to do with it. I’m thinking a bit of a gallery wall, a big plant, and an accent chair, but we’ll save all that for another post.
The bare wall seemed like a good spot to show off my bare shoulders, though (10/10 for that transition). I typically avoid off the shoulder tops, because I don’t find them flattering on me. But when I tried this on, something told me I had to buy it. Maybe it was knowing I’d previously felt just as iffy about buying these mom jeans, which later turned out to be a staple in my closet. And of course, the top was only $7, a solid find for my first trip to the Goodwill in Kakaʻako. So I’ll say again what I’ve said before: If you can’t justify spending retail price money on something you aren’t sure you’ll wear, try to find it at a thrift store. I’d recommend that Goodwill in Kakaʻako for a pretty curated selection, but places like Plato’s Closet and Buffalo Exchange that look specifically for trendy pieces for their stock are probably your best bet!
I felt it was only fitting to pair my two “gosh, am I really gonna wear this if I buy it?” thrift finds together, and I finished the look off with a pair of my favorite shoes from T.J. Maxx, and some cheapy Target sunnies. It’s just a comfy, casual, summer outfit.
The top and jeans are from Goodwill, about $7 and $8 respectively.
The shoes are from TJ Maxx, and $25
The sunnies are from Target, $9.99
Outfit Total: 'bout $50
